The start of a new year means the start of a search for the newest members of DUI. Auditions will be held on Monday the 6th and Tuesday the 7th of September, from 6-11pm in Brody Theater on East Campus.

To audition, sign up for a 20-minute slot at the Activities Fair on Friday, September 3rd. If for some reason you miss this, send us an email at dui@duke.edu.

If you see just one DUI show all year, this is it! We’ve got our off-the-cuff improv inspired by your suggestions, original sketches, and our laugh-out-loud videos. This year’s big show features campus personalities like Jon Scheyer, Brian Zoubek, Dean Sue, President Brodhead, Larry Moneta, the Keva Juice guy, and more…

-Tickets for Big Show 10 will be sold on the plaza tomorrow from 10-4 for $7, all of which is donated to the Scott Carter Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Research. Tickets will also be available at the door. Get to Page early if you want a good seat.

On to the news…

-Craig Gross, founder of the online Christian ministry, XXXChurch.com, hosted a “Porn and Pancakes” breakfast for 250 men as a way to get Christians and church officials to talk about pornography addiction over a pancake breakfast. In the Vatican City, the Pope has pledged his support, announcing he will host a breakfast in bed.

-In a related story, CNN.com reports that every second, approximately 28,258 Internet users are viewing pornography. We’ll wait…

-Former first lady Betty Ford was recovering from unspecified surgery in a hospital Thursday. However, doctors suspect that after leaving the hospital, Ford will probably only last another 5,000 miles until something else goes wrong and Brandon has to buy her a pair of brake pads and a new transmission.

-In a related story, future first lady Janice Honda Civic is looking better and better every day.

-The Food and Drug Administration announced on Thursday it has identified additional contaminated pet food products that need to be recalled — dog biscuits made by Sunshine Mills of Red Bay, Alabama. As a result, the Marketplace will have to close for two days until they can make other arrangements.

-After shooting scenes for his new movie in Tobaccoville, NC, George Clooney gave two little kids $20 for a cup of lemonade at their nearby stand. The movie being filmed was “Ocean’s 14: Like Stealing Candy from a Baby.”

-DUI wonders why CNN covered this story? I mean, aren’t there more important things going on in the news. Amazingly, the Clooney story is the 6th most popular news story on CNN.com right now. What’s number 5 you ask? “Matt Damon refutes original report: Favorite color is red.”
